Facility timeline

From blueprint to Tier-Alpha infrastructure

Construction began in April 2012, concluded in September 2017, and represented a GBP 14.6 billion investment. The K-Gen IV Thorium-Hybrid Pressurised Reactor pairs thorium-U233 hybrid rods with KAIROS-9 automation.

  • 3.8 km² campus with 42 buildings and 5 guard towers.
  • Quantum-Mesh Industrial Network (QMIN) provides connectivity for 1824 cameras.
  • Backed by 6 x 9.5 MW units and four 180m hyperbolic towers.
